I wasn’t sure what to expect with The ARC but I love a good fantasy or sci-fi so I was excited to give it a go. I can honestly say by the end of the prologue I was hooked!
The world building, the writing, the plot and the characters are all fantastic. It very much has a sort of science fiction and fantasy vibe which works so well. What Cosby doesn’t do though with their world building is dump all the information in one go. We learn with the characters and along the novel which is something I loved. Speaking of characters I adored each and every one. While I might not like their personalities they are all so well crafted and feel so real and of course bonus points for the Golden Retriever.
In terms of plot I loved the pacing and mixture of genres. We have mystery, suspense, fantasy, sci-fi and so much more. I never spoil stories but I have to say this one is fantastic. If you enjoy a well crafted story with fantastic characters (and the best Golden Retriever) this is for you!
As always thank you to ZooLoo's Book Tour for the copy to review. My review is always honest, truthful and freely given.

This was quite an intriguing read and I really enjoyed it. It’s a good storyline and it’s got some good characters.
Five people and one dog wake up in a house, everyone blaming each other for the kidnapping. There had been a mysterious voice asking them to visit the stones that night. They then saw the fireflies multiply by the hundreds until all they saw were the lights, then they heard a voice. They spun round to see a humanoid forming with a purple aura, she was called Phoenix and in joint command. ‘Do not fear me’, she says as she feels their fear, utter terror and their uneasiness. Becky crumples to the floor. Suze goes to her immediately and checks on her. Nina asks the entity what she has done to her? Phoenix replies, ‘Nothing,’ and starts to walk towards Becky and Suze. ‘Stop right there and leave her’, demands Suze. ‘Very well. She has faded, it is to be expected. She will be ok in a moment.’ Becky started to twitch on the grass. Suze was still offering comfort to Becks. ‘All in good time, you have nothing to fear. In the meantime, I will acquaint you with the others.’ Ben scoffed, ‘Others?’ Phoenix nodded, ‘I introduce Sol, River, Sage Amber. We are the Elites.’ Bit of fantasy, quite enjoyable. Good story, something different which made a change for me. I liked how the author used her imagination on this one.
Melding together fantasy, sci-fi and mystery, The Arc is beautifully descriptive, and the author has a fabulous way with prose. The world building is wonderfully done, as are the characterisations, all of which happen at a nice, flowy pace, so there's no mass of info dumping to overwhelm the senses.
There's an ethereal, haunting quality that surrounds this tale, which I'd hoped would be the case from the cover artwork. Any book that has a dog in it gets brownie points from me, too!

I loved the cover of this book and was intrigued by the premise of the story. This is my review of The Arc by Laura Cosby.
Beginning just over 200 years in the future where earth has been ravaged by war, five people and a dog wake up in a strange house, positive that each have kidnapped the others. But when they begin to witness things that shouldn’t exist, they have to work together to find out where they are and why they are there. This was an interesting read with a couple of characters I particularly liked, and one I just felt like throttling so many times. There’s also an air of mystery throughout the pages as the reason for them being there is slowly revealed and I found myself fascinated by the intriguing beings who were introduced.
I found The Arc to be quite a thought provoking read so thank you Laura for creating this mysterious and unusual world.
💭 My Thoughts 💭
Firstly can we take a second to admire the cover, it's absolutely stunning 😍
When I started this one I was a bit confused but it pulled me in straight away. The first couple of chapters alone had me absolutely howling with laughter with the likes of "dingbat" and "bonehead"
The writing is so immersive that you can feel yourself there in the environment, and I adored Bailey character. I have to admit tho Chapter 3 (Ben) just made me laugh so much, especially Ben.
Although this is in third person, it completely suits the book and style of writing because you get to follow all the characters throughout this discovery.
